About this tool

A unit converter that shows the whole category at once: enter 5 kilometres and see miles, feet, yards and nautical miles together, rather than picking one target unit at a time. Thirteen categories, from nanometres to light-years and from bits to pebibytes.

Temperature is converted with the real affine formulas rather than a ratio. That distinction is the most common bug in unit converters: Celsius, Fahrenheit and Rankine all have offset zero points, so scaling by a factor gives the wrong answer for everything except absolute zero. Here −40°C and −40°F correctly agree, and 10°C is 50°F rather than 34°F.

Where a unit name means two different things, the tool says which one it is instead of quietly choosing. US and Imperial gallons differ by about a fifth, as do their fluid ounces; a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes while a kibibyte is 1,024; and a "month" has no fixed length, so it is labelled as an average. Everything is computed in the page — nothing is uploaded.
